Dr. Zipperer is originally from Savannah, Georgia. He studied at Emory College in Atlanta, followed by the Medical College of Georgia and the University of Florida in Gainesville. He holds Board Certification in Internal Medicine. Since starting full time in September 2012 as Founder and CEO of Zipperer Medical Group, his clinics have had phenomenal growth. ZMG clinics now encompass 4 locations: Wasilla, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Soldotna.
He is a member of The American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM), The American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). He has many years of experience dealing with the sickest and most challenging internal medicine patients but is currently focusing his attention on his interests in pain management and addiction medicine. He continues to see general medical patients as well.
Dr. Zipperer also has started a 12 Step Fellowship for those who suffer from opiate addiction and are on medication assisted treatment. He believes Spirituality to be essential in the battle against addiction. The program Buprenorphine Anonymous is well attended with new groups starting soon.
Dr. Zipperer is a proud husband and father of two wonderful children. He pursues recreational interests including aviation and fishing. Dr. Zipperer was a recipient of a scholarship from the Georgia Country Doctor Program and spent several years in the rural parts of Georgia paying back his commitment. He brings this "country doctor" philosophy to his practices here in Alaska.
