Years of severe pain

Dr Z listened to my frustration of having severe pain I told him I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have had it for years . I never know from one day to the next on how I’ll feel. It sucks the life out of me! He listened to me ordered blood work I’ve never had. One marker had very high levels of inflammation. We are working on that now . I get totally exhausted just showering and have to rest a few minutes to get dressed and rest again. I felt very confident that he will help me Only wish there was a department that would focus on fibromyalgia. Most Drs think it’s all in the patients head! There are more people out there who have it . We need some quality of life with fibromyalgia it’s discouraging. Thank you Dr Z for giving me some hope .

Professional & caring

Dr. Zawidniak is approachable and clearly very knowledgeable in his field. Takes time to follow up by asking questions and explains the why or why nots to different treatments. Pretty responsive through the online messaging portal when I've had issues. The staff I've interacted with have all been polite and professional.

Was not interested in my chronic pain

I came in to see Dr. Zawidniak for chronic pain and fatigue. When I mentioned that I felt I had it he said "people with fibromyalgia are like blobs, they really can't do much." I could barely get out that I had to rest in bed for 48 hours prior to the appointment to ensure I would be able to make it. He prescribed me a stronger muscle relaxer after I said muscle relaxers and other pain medications were not helping and that I had to stop working and stop graduate school. Because my labs were normal 'there wasn't much he could do.' I got diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last week.

1. Dr. Zawidniak never called me with my X-ray results like he said he would. 2. The Xray machine went down and so did the computer that was operating it and it increased the wait time. 3. The X-ray written results refer to my right hand as my right hip. 4. The doctor's nurse called me because she could not understand the note she got from the receptionist about needing a referral to my PT practitioner. She took down the fax number and said she would get the Dr's approval that afternoon. She did answer my questions about the X-ray results and said she'd get the word hip changed to hand. It hasn't happened yet. 5. The next day the PT from Hartford Health Care, not my provider, called to set up an appointment. 6. I called HHC bone and joint institute yesterday to get the X-ray matter and the referral matter corrected and was told it wouldn't happen until next week.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Zawidniak to get a second opinion. He said he will never go against what another doctor has said even if that other doctor has misdiagnosed you. That is essentially malpractice, not to mention not aligned with the Hippocratic Oath all doctors take.

I went to see Dr. Zawidniak for my rheumatology issues. I needed advice and directions. He was very approachable and he looked at my records before he saw me, which to me is a good thing. (not all of them do!) He wanted to focus more on what is the real problem rather than what is perceived. Dr. Zawidniak asked more questions then ordered labwork as well as X-ray of my hand (that was new to me). Everything went smoothly because the laboratory and the radiology dept are all in the same place so they were done quickly. I look forward to seeing Dr. Zawidniak again soon to discuss my problems and to move forward! Great doctor! No regrets!

Excellent office staff, checked in and roomed quickly. Doctor in to see me quickly after rooming. Very knowledgeable, ordered all needed tests at visit and got me diagnosed within days after having issues for several months that others could not diagnose. Would recommend.

I had appointment with Dr. Zawidniak. I traveled from Avon CT to Hartford for the appointment. Due to road construction, I arrived 7-8 minutes late. There was another patient at the front desk talking with the receptionist, who clearly had some issue. I sat down and patiently waited about 10 minutes until the receptionist was available. When I announced my name, the receptionist told me I was 15 minutes late for the appointment. I explained the traffic and waiting for the prior patient to finish her issue, and that I was actually only 7-8 minutes late. She told me to wait and she will talk with the doctor. She returned and told me since I was 15 minutes late, the doctor said he will not see me! Like all of us, in the past, I have arrived on time for a doctor appointment only to wait 15-20 minutes in the waiting room. My conclusion, Zawidniak is a crass, uncaring clod who has no sensitivity for his patients. Clearly, this is not a doctor I would put my care/trust in.
