I had a horrible experience with Dr. Zappia. I eventually switched to another doc. Initially he told me my issues were due to anxiety and made me feel like a crazy person. Until my test results came back and showed otherwise. Even after results, was very vague and never fully explained diagnosis clearly. He was extremely rude, defensive and condescending. As a previous educator, a part of me thinks he may be on the spectrum. Honestly, I hope that's the case, otherwise, he's just plain mean.

I saw Zappia for SSCD: A hole in the temporal bone makes a third window in the inner ear & inhibits the function of processing noise & maintaining equilibrium. The way to fix this is w/ surgery. When inquiring about the procedure he got very defensive as if I was questioning his ability to perform. He called me paranoid, 'cause I wanted the details of the surgery & recovery. He also wouldn't refer me to vestibular therapy after the surgery. It has been 7mo since & I am far worse than before.

Dr. Zappia was one the the kindest, gentle physicians I've experienced in a very long time. He never made me feel rushed, and went out of his way to answer any questions I asked. The procedure he performed went exactly as he had prepared me for. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent ENT.

I've been a patient of his for over 20 years. I have severe allergies and I see him several times a year. He's always very courteous, professional & explains what he is doing so I understand it. Contrary to some other reviews, I've seen him smile many times so I don't know what these other patients are talking about. He's never been rude or condensending. I've been to several ENT physicians all across the country and I consider him a great doctor. I would highly recommend him to others.

Dr. John Zappia saved my life as far as I'm concerned. I had a severe balance disorder he found when no one else could. 4 years before I found him. He ended up cutting the balance nerve on the left side of my brain. It changed my entire life. I had gone to several ear doctors. I was told I had MS, a brain tumor, a liver tumor and finally, I was just a woman doing things to herself I never heard of. Daily attacks were vomiting every day, eyes flipping , & I couldn't lift my head or stand.
