Positive Experience
Dr. Velyvis was the surgeon for my right total knee replacement. He is an excellent surgeon and I will go to him again when I get my second knee replaced. Dr. Velyvis is thorough in preparing you for surgery. He is honest and I would say brilliant. I had complete confidence. One thing I was worried about is using opiates for the pain following surgery. I was only on an opiate painkiller to get me through the 3 days following surgery. I had the surgery and was at the physical therapist the following Monday. Not that it is a big deal at this time in my life, but the scar looks great - just a faded thin straight line and no scar tissue. I have no complaints about Dr. Velyvis 'bedside' manner. I'm not looking for a doctor to be my friend; I'm looking for the most skilled in the procedure I will have to have. But I will say that I personally liked his 'bedside' manner. He was professional but concerned and he listens to you; is not rushed. I hope this review helps.

Stay away …
Stay away from this practice unless you need surgery. He is rude and wasn’t interested in listening to me, didn’t offer suggestions to help my pain/issue and didn’t tell me what was wrong with my knee. And, his billing manager is uncooperative; she will not enter my office visit claim correctly to my insurance company so now I’m having to pay the ridiculously large balance myself. Watch out for this practice!

My dad had his surgery on his left knee. This doctor has hurt him more than helped. Stay away if all possible. He has not seen my dad but one time since the operation. He had his in Blacksburg VA in 2019.

I just had my left knee revision TKR June 28,2019. The original surgery was done by Dr Velyvis on 1/30/2018 in Daily City, Ca. I had 3 doctors tell me my knees were the worst they have ever seen after Dr Velyvis surgery. He put the implants in too tight. Dr Sah in Freemont, Ca did the the revision on both knees and said they we horrible!!!

Dr. V did a total knee and right hip replacement for my wife with minimum pain, and a quick recovery. He did a partial knee for me. I actually walked out of the recovery room. No negative effects. He also did a full knee replacement for my sister. Obviously, we are BIG fans of Dr. V.
