Dr. John A. Thomas is a native of Texas who graduated from Rice University cum laude. He then attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Thomas completed his Orthopaedic training at the University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston, where he was awarded the Golden Bone Excellence in Teaching Award and the Hutchings Academic Excellence in Orthopaedics Award. Following his residency, Dr. Thomas completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Methodist Sports Medicine Center in Indianapolis. While in Indianapolis, Dr. Thomas learned advanced techniques in the treatment of knee, shoulder, and elbow injuries. During that time, he also assisted in the care of local high schools, colleges, and the Indianapolis Colts. From 2004 to 2006, Dr. Thomas was in private practice in Houston, Texas, where he was team physician for Alief Independent School District. In early 2007, Dr. Thomas began his practice in the Fort Worth area, subsequently becoming a partner in Lone Star Orthopaedic and Spine Specialists, PLLC. Dr. Thomas is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and is a member of the American Medical Association and Texas Medical Association. Dr. Thomas specializes in sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery but also has an interest in knee replacement and orthopaedic fracture care.
