Dr. Serak performed a L4-S1 ALIF with posterior instrumentation on me. 53 y/o male with recurring herniated disks and degeneration over >20 years. With Dr. Serak's advice and after learning about other's experiences, I believe this was the best procedure for my situation. Based on my results 4 weeks post-surgery, it was an amazing success. All nerve pain is gone and I feel great. I was unable to stand up straight or walk even a half mile before surgery and I am now walking over 2.5 miles with no problem and have recently started PT. Still a lot of rehab and healing to do, but the surgery went extremely well and I trust that was due to Dr. Serak's expertise along with that of all the supporting staff and the professionals at Sky Ridge. I am genuinely grateful for the people that dedicate their lives to helping us be health and whole. Thank you Dr. Serak and Sky Ridge Medical Center for your excellent care!

Dr. Serak was very informative on my condition and the remedy. He was very thorough which left me a minimal amount of questions which he fully answered. He made me feel very secure with him doing the procedure that needs to be done. I would highly recommend Dr Serak.

Dr. Serak is great! He genuinely cared about me and my situation. He went out of his way to get my surgery approved through my medical insurance. He had to submit stuff to them 4 times before he could get me approved. The care and consideration before and after my surgery was awesome. I would recommend him to everyone!!! Thank you Dawn Davey

The best Neurosurgeon I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of experience unfortunately, but fortunately this time I had Doctor Serak. When I walked out of the hospital with no pain and now fours days later still No pain from having a replacement disc in my neck and no pain meds, I feel blessed right now.

Dr. John Serak, neurosurgeon, and his staff are fantastic. They are all very professional and very caring. Dr. Serak made me feel comfortable from the beginning. He spent enough time with me at the first appointment that I was more worried about the surgery being canceled then the surgery itself. Do to insurance and CoVid it had been changed 5 times. His wonderful team keep me posted on what was going on. I had pinched nerves and had excruciating pain. When I woke up from the surgery that pain was gone. Don’t get me wrong I still had pain from the surgery but the nerve pain was gone. Tomorrow will be two weeks from my surgery and I feel wonderful. I have the normal pain from surgery but, I have been doing what I was told and I feel fantastic. I’m so ready to go and play with my grandsons! I have also referred Dr. Serak to family members.

Terrible, he butchered my spine and left me with chronic pain. My first TLIF operation left me worse off than before. To try to repair this, he removed part of my spine and half of the hardware implanted during my first operation. After that, the "cage" he had inserted between L5 and S1 recessed into L5. I refused a third operation where he wanted to go in through my abdomen to repair his earlier mistakes. My experience is that he is clumsy and dangerous. I made a bad mistake by choosing him.

Dr. Serak was very attentive to my concerns about my neck. He gave me options on conservative treatment, rather than jumping right into wanting to do surgery. I have recurring symptoms from three years ago, so he was aware of my past problems. He is very professional and I would recommend him for anyone having back or neck problems that are looking for a referral.
