Disappointed
Dr. Papa was my 2nd opinion after breaking 3 metatarsals 8 months prior. He sternly advised me not to move as he pushed on my foot and asked me to only use one finger when pointing to the locations that hurt. Essentially told me I needed to do physical therapy (even though I told him ALL of the things I was already doing). I couldn’t imagine doing physical therapy on this foot as it was still acutely hurting. ….3rd opinion sent me for an mri and my foot has not healed. Still broken! Wish Dr. Papa would have listened to me and taken me more serious when I advised that I am still in pain 8 months later. It’s not just normal

Dr. Papa repaired my ruptured Achilles’ tendon 5.5 years ago and recently repaired my torn Peroneal tendon in the same foot. He is an outstanding surgeon and truly mastered his craft. I recovered perfectly from both surgeries. I would not consider another surgeon for my foot and ankle care.

I saw a local surgeon about removing my painful tib/fib plates and screws (18 months after placement for compound fractures in lower leg). I wanted to run again and the hardware hurt so I couldn’t. Local surgeon liked the hardware so much and doubted I’d be able to run (not sure why except that I’m mid 50s...guess he’s used to less active people). Anyway,I saw Dr Papa for a second opinion. Not only did he agree to remove it but recommended it as the plates were so close to surface that they were risky to come through the skin over time. I literally had NO PAIN the day of surgery. Went back to work 3 days later. Ran a little 6 weeks later and now 8 weeks later, I am running without pain! I’m so pleased that I saw Dr. Papa. I recommend him without reservation.

Extremely inefficient office. I waited over an hour past my appointment time. Staff did not know why he was running late.No explanation, no update. I finally had to leave as I had driven a long way to see Dr. Papa. You might be better off going in as a walk-in than making an appointment. I won’t be returning.

Years of long-standing disease had resulted in significant bilateral foot pain and deformities. Dr. Papa carefully explained all options and reviewed the X-rays with me. He listened to my concerns and patiently answered questions. His calm assurance and professionalism helped me to know surgery was the correct option for me. He corrected the deformities and restored function of, first one foot, and then the other two years later. I could not be more grateful! He is a talented & gifted surgeon!

Dr. Papa is a very skilled surgeon and completely restructured my foot. He explained the surgery and follow up in detail and I felt comfortable and at ease throughout the entire process. Little to no pain following surgery.

I have contacted Jewett several times to ask if Dr John Papa would accept a patient under the VA Veterans Choice Program. None of my calls have been returned. Veterans have served their country, even died for it, and fought for your freedom. I can't rate any Dr highly that does not accept veterans as patients. I would be willing to change this rating if Dr. Jablonski would accept a patient under the VA Veterans Choice Program.

Dr. Papa was conservative in his care approach & took time to explain recommendations & options. I felt comfortable & understood each step along the way. My procedure went better than expected. Jewett Orthopaedic Center is professional & well thought out with consideration for patient management & flow. It was far from the usual - hand the patient a clipboard from behind a glass door. Each person in his office was personable, professional &courteous and seems to truly care.

He was very rude. Didn't listen to my ongoing issues with my ankle. I understand he is a great surgeon but i prefer my doctors to have a soul. He is very uncaring, and because of that i will seek treatment elsewhere. Not to mention i had to wait over half an hour for him to come in the exam room only for him to almost belittle me.

I have never been so degraded by a doctor in my entire life. He did not look at any of my records/x-rays before my visit and treated me with complete disrespect. I felt as if I'd been raped after leaving his office. He might be a good surgeon, I have no idea, and I never will know because his bedside manner was so completely awful that I would NEVER go back to him for anything, much less surgery.

Great Doc!! Dr. Papa is very detail oriented & exceptionally knowledgeable. On my first visit, he took time to explain my problems & all my surgical and nonsurgical options. I returned to Dr. Papa when I realized that I required surgery & again he took time to review all options & I decided on surgery- Could not be happier with the results! I know now why many of my friends (doctors included) said he is Great! An MD with fellowship training along with his passion & pride have given me life!

Dr papa did not focus on appointment, he did the same thing on my last visits reason was to see what is the progression of my charcot foot and possible referral for shoes to be made, he did not do that, He asked why it is a year since last visit and I had to remind him that he requested a yearly visit Before entering the exam room he was walking up and down the corridor dictating in a little recorder in a loud voice for everybody to hear I find him rude and complete waste of time

There may be a foot/ankle surgeon equal to Dr. Papa, but there is no one better. From my initial meeting through surgery, Dr. Papa has been the consummate professional. Dr. Papa is, arguably, the best foot/ankle surgeon practicing. Thank you, Dr. Papa.
