Dr McGowan has managed my back issue since last October. He worked with me to try and hold off on surgery. We tried all the usual therapies but unfortunately my back issue got worse. I had my surgery on May 8th and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. I feel great except for the usual surgery pain but that’s temporary. I highly recommend Dr McGowan, aside from being a great Doctor he’s actually a nice guy too!!

They were respectful of my time. The doctor sat while talking to me, which showed he wasn’t in a rush to walk out and made sure I didn’t leave with questions about the plan of care.

Dr. McGowan may well be the best in this area, but I guess I'll never know. I called his office this morning to make an appointment and was told that I needed to be referred by my PCP. I explained that I was referred by a hospital where I had an EMERGENCY, not my PCP. The attendant said she'd take my name and call me back. More than 3 hours later, I called back and she said that Dr. McGowan's nurse "was still busy with patients" and hadn't had time to call me back. I have an urgent situation...

Dr McGowan is excellent and very empathetic. I am 84 years old and he took time to explain everything to me. I had my surgery in 45 mins and was walking that evening. I now can walk small lengths without my walker whereas before I was in a wheelchair. I have not needed any opiods for pain. So happy!

Dr. McGowan is absolutely fantastic. He is brilliant and caring and has truthful caring conversations with his patients. I would never hesitate to recommend him to anyone. His staff is equally as amazing. They are so helpful and caring. In a time when healthcare can be so robotic they have found a magical mix that was so nice to experience. Make an appointment now if you need his services.

Dr. McGowan clearly understands the difference between simply hearing and listening/paying attention to a patient. He maintains eye contact, never interrupts, and answers questions to the best of his proven ability. In a word, he treats a patient as a person, NOT AS A CHART. One doesn't feel rushed with him, and his keen sense of humor is readily shown when appropriate. I am grateful to have had successful treatment by this neurosurgeon.

Dr. McGowan performed surgery on my wife, March of this year and went extreamly well. He even took the time before her procedure to have a moment of prayer with her. I was so impressed with Dr. McGowan and his staff that I had full conference he would also be my surgeon when I found out I had no disk between C5&6 that had been causing so much pain. He took the same care for me as with my wife. I would not trust anyone else but Dr. McGowan and his incredible staff for my care.

This first time I had to see Dr. McGowan, he advised me that I needed surgery in order to relieve the pain in my back and legs. He explained the procedure in terms that were understandable and reassuring. After the surgery and the healing time I have never felt better. Two years later and I have problems in another area of my spine and I did not hesitate to return to Dr. McGowan. I will trust him in whatever he recommends this time. I know I am in good hands with Dr. McGowan

Dr. McGowen is an extraordinary doctor. He definitely listens and is genuinely concerned for his patients health. He analyzes and consults with his colleagues that his assessment is the best path forward. I had an issue that needed immediate attention, which he handled immediately. Thanks to Dr. McGowen’s concern and routine check ups, I am doing much better. He definitely gives me piece of mind. I can’t thank my pain doctor enough for adding him to my list of A-team doctors.

A visit to Dr. McGowan is actually a very fine experience. Brief wait time, greeted by friendly staff at reception, then seen and greeted by a very professional, knowledgeable Nurse Named "Crissy". Doc shows up shortly after Nurse interview, one sees their MRI on screen, same is discussed in specific terms, then treatment discussed. Excellent and very professional operation in total. Absolutely do and will continue to recommend Dr. McGowan to any and all.

Dr. McGowan performed a decompressive laminectomy and foraminotomy on me in 2016 for spinal stenosis. Being a physician, I researched and asked colleagues with whom I had practiced with at Medical City Dallas Hospital who they would consult. He came highly recommended. My surgery went well and I have been symptom free since my surgery. I have referred three patients to Dr. McGowan who he operated on. They achieved good results and were very pleased. S. R. M.D.

I found Dr McGiwan to be a very professional, courteous doctor who spent time discussing my issues until I was satisfied I understood the process for resolution. He is a conservative physician who sees invasive procedures as only a last option. After seeing many other physicians to diagnose my back problems, I do not hesitate to state Dr McGowan is the doctor in whom I have absolute confidence he is treating my issue appropriately.

I would recommend Dr McGowan for any neurosurgery and I have the scars to prove it. He has operated on me twice and his competency is only outranked by his caring and personal demeanor, Dr McGowan is the best there is. And I’ll be happy to share more information at any time.
