Excellent Experience
Dr. McDonald took the time to explain exactly what was causing my daughters pain, including drawing a picture for her to visualize the abnormality. He answered all of our questions and recommended the least invasive method of treatment. We highly recommend him!

Dr. McDonald was my orthopedic doctor/surgeon for my ACL surgery. He immediately made me feel reassured about the 9 month recovery. He works with Kathryn DeFord, PA, they both are very personable, caring, and intelligent. I always felt at ease when I had doctors appointments. My surgery went “perfectly”, no issues afterwards, healed well, and the scaring is minimal. After surgery, I had multiple follow-ups with Kate DeFord, and I loved her! They have a great team at Texas Orthopedics. I also did physical therapy at the same location, very happy with my progress and experience!

I was seen very quickly after my referral to Dr McDonald. I made it clear to the nurse, the PA Carl, and the Dr that I was worried I would get no diagnosis and the good ole "take ibuprofen and rest treatment". After meeting the Dr I voiced my concerns and he proceeded to only focus on testing that would confirm if he wanted me as a patient or would refer me to someone else. He did not look into my concerns of permanent damage and pain, instead focusing on flare ups caused by a diagnosis that he doesn't treat. His partial diagnosis was accurate so he was able to wash his hands of me and my health concerns. The referral Dr is overbooked and if I was choosing to continue using Texas Ortho would not be able to see me for over 40 days. Dr McDonald admitted that the diagnosis he was going for would not typically cause permanent damage, limited mobility, and pain. Did not schedule an mri or even look at what I was explaining to be ongoing issues.

I whole-heartedly recommend surgeon John McDonald and the staff at Texas Orthopedics for treating your orthopedic injuries. He is very skilled and knowledgeable in his field. I saw see Dr. McDonald about surgery when two of the three muscles attached to the outside of my hip tore completely and was no longer attached. I’d been told before seeing the surgeon that I would need a hip replacement, even though my hip joint was fine. To my delight, Doctor McDonald, Orthopedic surgeon, didn’t mention a hip replacement, but instead opted to reattach the two muscles (tendons) back onto my hip bone. It has been over 2 months since my surgery, and I am getting stronger every day. If you need orthopedic surgery, Dr. McDonald is careful to perform exactly the surgery you need and do it very well. His staff is also easy to contact and quick to respond to questions left on the patient portal. They are very communicative and caring.

Dr. McDonald is one of the most caring and skilled orthopedic surgeons I know. Kate DeFord his PA, works along side him and is equally as amazing. They really go the extra mile to care for their patients and treat them in the way they would want their own families cared for. I experienced this personally when my 17 yr old son severely injured his knee in football, this past September. We felt helpless as parents, and scared when his injury happened. Dr. McDonald and Kate reassured us and took excellent care of my son. They made sure the best orthopedic braces, surgical equipment, and physical therapy were utilized to offer him the best outcome for surgery and healing. They took extra care and time to guide us through what my son’s journey would look like, from the day of his injury, to surgery, through recovery, and healing. I wouldn’t trust anyone other than Dr. McDonald, Kate DeFord and their amazing team to reconstruct my sons destroyed knee. Together as a team they are some
