Dr. John Frederick joined Eye Surgeons Associates in 1998. Following an undergraduate degree at Northwestern University, he attended medical school at the University of Iowa. Residency followed at Cornell University in New York where he served as Chief Resident. His training was completed in Atlanta with a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and the Scott County Medical Society. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and serves as clinical faculty for the family practice residency programs at both Genesis and Trinity. He also serves as staff Ophthalmologist for the Trinity and Genesis Neonatal Intensive Care Units. His areas of special interest include: pediatric ophthalmology and adult ocular motility disorders, neuro-ophthalmology, retinopathy of prematurity, amblyopia (lazy eye), thyroid eye disease, and diplopia (double vision). Formerly Eye Surgeons' representative on the Board at Spring Park Surgery Center, Dr. Frederick now serves as President of ESA.
