Office never answers the phone or returns calls. dr. Dunleavy is very self centered, arrogant and greedy. My surgery had complications and he didn't want to know about it. Find better care.

I saw Dr Dunleavy because of a slip and fall. Because of his negligence I have a permanent disability. My hamstring is permanently severed and cannot be reconnected because he put me off. The tissue is dead and had he taken me seriously originally I could have had surgery to reattach my hamstring .

Just had my hip replacement last week. Dr. Dunleavy is a caring physician who's confidence and level of expertise made him an easy choice for me. Ignore the negative reviews. If you are particular about your surgeon and looking for the best possible outcome, Dr. Dunleavy is the doctor for you. Will be scheduling my 2nd hip as soon as possible.
Danbury, CT |
Horrible experience -- The dr spent about 5 total minutes with me. Went in for a muscle complaint and dr decided in a 30 second review of x-rays and MRI that I needed my hip replaced. Dr made pronouncement and then left. Ridiculous treatment. I've had longer consultations with hardware guy. Saw 2nd dr who treated my condition and said my hip had some arthritis but could easily be managed through exercise and aspirin.
New Milford, CT |
I would not recommend Dr. Dunleavy or this office to my worst enemy. It is all about money here and has a secretarial staff that couldn't care less. Will not be treated like this by a physician--no less-ever again.
Bethel, CT |
I had the same type of experience as the patient from Bridgeport. The type of attitude and care you get seems almost to depend on who you are. My advice--stay clear of this office for joint replacements.
New Fairfield, Connecticut |
Very personable and attentive. Really listened to my concerns and took the time to answer my questions.

I recently visited Dr. Dunleavy for a left hip issue and pain. I aked for an x-ray to be taken to be on the safe side knowing I had been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and he was correct in his findings. He showed me my x-ray results and explained my condition and gave me options. Thank you Dr. Dunleavy ! Mike C. Danbury Ct.

Pompus and self serving. Doesn't listen to patients needs or concerns. Office secretary is awful. Whatever you do make every effort to find someone you will trust with your health.
in Southbury, CT |
Thorough. Answered all questions. Intelligent. Checked him out prior to visit. Professional, knowledgeable. Comes highly recommended. Glad we are going to St. Francis Hospital, CT Joint Replacement Institute.
in Middlebury, CT |
Great surgeon. Saved my ankle which was badly broken. Courteous and patient, always took time to provide me with thorough information and answer all my questions. Excellent doctor. and excellent surgical results.
in Bethel, CT |
Dr. Dunleavy replaced both of my knees this year. He thoroughly explained the procedure and answered all my questions. I was walking the same day and home in two days after both surgeries. My advice to anyone who is thinking of joint replacement surgery, follow your doctor's advice, do the physical therapy as suggested by your doctor, and make some form of exercise a part of your daily life style for the rest of your life!!
in Southbury, CT |
Six months ago Dr. Dunleavy replaced my right hip. He explained all aspects of the procedure and recovery upfront answering my questions before being asked. My surgery went smoothly, I was walking several hours later and was home the next day going up and down the stairs. I never experienced any pain and have a rather small incision. Throughout the entire process, Dr. Dunleavy was professional, excellent as a surgeon, personable, and always willing to spend as much time with me as I needed.
in Bridgeport, CT |
Very impatient and rude doctor. It appears he formed an opinion before meeting with me or hearing my complaint.
