Dr. Costello's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Costello "Being a good physician requires four steps; 1. Developing a moral foundation central to your character and behavior. This allows you to be a truthful person. A truthful person learns more from their errors than their successes and corrects behavior. 2. Doing the work required to get a through and rigorous education at all levels, high school, university, medical school, internship, residency and fellowship at quality institutions (a 15-17 year commitment). 3. Learning to listen to patients. Learning your medical limits and when to refer a patient out. Learning to help patients learn to help themselves. Learning empathy for patients problems. Learning to say prayers for patients when medical science runs out. 4. Finding balance in your profession. Keep educated on those medical topics you use. Working enough to pay bills. Being home enough for the spouse and children. What does it take to be a great physician? The above and a smile. P.S If I survive the terrible forces trying to eliminate the profession of Medicine, turning doctors into employees beholden to managers and not patients, in May of 2018 there will have been a doctor Costello of the same family helping patients in the St Louis, Missouri community for over 100 years. And yes still accepting new patients."

I waited for over an hour to see this doctor. I was early for my appt, which was at 8 am, I wouldn’t think he’d be behind schedule that early. He knew I was in a great deal of pain trying to sit in a chair in the waiting room. Didn’t really listen to what my complaints were and didn’t offer any...Read More

I've been going to Dr. Costello for more than 20 years and have found him to be an excellent doctor and diagnostician. I would highly recommend him to family and friends. In fact, my wife is now a patient.

Beware of the ease of getting a quick appointment here, there is a reason for that, no other rheumatologist in the St. Louis area can get you in for appt. within 2 days of calling. He asked inappropriate sex question. If you are seeing him as a rheumatologist be warned to only pay your copay as a...Read More
