Dr Capener is a good human being. That said, he was beyond underwhelming as a doctor and we will never see him again. He downplayed and minimized my husband's symptoms, saying it was "probably IBS" but being coaxed into a colonoscopy. Then when there was a CLEAR malignancy in the rectum, he downplayed it again, refusing to call it cancer. Instead he used words like "concerning" and "should be removed" and "no way of knowing if it's cancer." After getting pathology back saying it was cancer, he sent husband for CT scan looking for metastasis. Called with the report, saying not to assume the worst about the radiologist saying they saw malignancy on the liver, because "sometimes they notice the rectal cancer diagnosis and see things that aren't really there." Well, good thing we saw the oncologist, because there was ZERO question in her mind that it was a set of 4 tumors on his liver, ranging from 2cm-6cm in size (so, NOT SMALL). Do not recommend. Get a colonoscopy but NOT by this Dr.

He is good. He caught my “spot” while doing a colonoscopy.

He is professional. He is smart. He’s not much for talking, but he will engage in banter and joking if someone else starts in! He is not in this field to be “best friends” with his patients. Try to imagine going into the practice of gastroenterology: colonoscopies; intestines, stomach all the way up to the throat....some people will inevitably pass away. No I am not related to him. My Gastero doctor moved out of state. I am lucky to have such a good doc!

I was under his care in the hospital for a flare of crohns disease. He contacted my regular gastroenterologist who recommended I get a colonoscopy to determine the cause of my problems. He totally ignored their recommendation and did not order the test while I was in the hospital. i ended up having the procedure a week later.
