A native Texan, Dr. Butler received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center Houston, and infectious disease fellowship training from the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. His research on HIV has been published in Nature. For the past 6 years John has served as medical director for the Memorial Hermann Health Care System's Epidemiology and Infection Prevention program. He prepared hospitals for possible highly infectious patients during the Ebola outbreak and has led public health messaging efforts."
