Dr. John Buster, MD
I am deeply devoted to my medical practice and to the well-being of the women I care for. I strive to be a good example to others as a skilled professional and want to share my knowledge with patients and other physicians learning the reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialty. Dr. Buster studied at Stanford University and earned his medical degree from the University of California at the Los Angeles School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Buster is a professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Buster began his career as a basic scientist working in reproductive physiology, female endocrinology embryology, genetics and molecular biology. Dr. Buster hoped to use this experience in a way that would apply to clinical areas that would directly help others. As a result, reproductive endocrinology and infertility has been an ideal profession for him. Dr. Buster's research has led to several major innovations that have become standard medical practice. To date, his most significant work was directing the research team that performed history's first donor embryo transplant from one woman to another resulting in a live birth. It was performed at UCLA, with his announcement of the first birth in 1984. Dr. Buster's 40 years of research and clinical practice in reproductive medicine also includes numerous published studies on steroid physiology, preimplantation embryology, genetics of pregnancy loss, mood disorders, female sexual dysfunction and menopausal hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Buster has published more than 250 original articles, book chapters and reviews on subjects ranging from advanced methods for treating infertile women, pregnancy loss, menopause, menopausal hormone replacement therapy, female sexual dysfunction, and preimplantation genetics. Dr. Buster has served as a reviewer for many medical journals, holds membership in numerous academic societies and has served as an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Buster "Our success stems from a sincere and passionate commitment to helping all women seeking pregnancy, with a focus on the least invasive techniques before resorting to more complex and costly interventions. Our goal is to begin treatment quickly and achieve success with plans designed personally for each patient, as an individual. We fulfill that commitment through many years of experience in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility and a personal, compassionate approach to treating each patient, male and female, based on his or her individual needs, concerns and desires. Although we may not be able to solve every fertility problem with a resulting pregnancy, we are honest and forthright in our evaluation and treatment. We do not believe in turning away women with difficult issues in order to protect or artificially inflate our success rates."
