Lacks compassion
Dr. Liu seems very competent at prescribing medications. She always asks if there is anything I want to talk about. However, she also told me I needed to "get over" the death of my 18yr old son and "move on" simply because it was near the anniversary of his death and I told her I was having a hard time. A person NEVER "gets over" losing a child and she should know better!

Cold and uncaring. All she does is write prescriptions. Listening is beyond her capabilities.

Wonderful psychiatrist
After having had a very bad experience regarding medications with a prior psychiatrist, I stopped seeing him and began looking for another one. During this time, I heard and read about Dr. Liu and knew immediately that she was the psychiatrist that I needed to see. I had to wait a few months to see her, but it was so well worth it. What I had heard and read was true. She allowed me to explain everything I needed to tell her uninterrupted. Dr. Liu never rushed me regarding coming off of medications and trying a new one, always allowing me to go at my own pace, and she was always available when I needed to contact her. I'm so much better now, and I recommend Dr. Liu without reservation.

Dr is great, office staff is unresponsive
This is a review not of Dr. Liu herself - she has been very good to me. However, her office staff is literally impossible to get a hold of. I have been trying to contact them for over a week to get hold of medical documentation needed to medically withdraw from some classes. No response to emails or follow-ups. I called them a day before the deadline, and a receptionist dismissed me with no other explanation except, "call again tomorrow." I tried, but no one is picking up the phone. I am very distressed.

On The Right Track - Finally!
My previous Therapist, who is not an MD and cannot prescribe medications, opined that I was taking the wrong meds for my diagnosis (BPD) and recommended Dr. Liu to me for corrective action. I took me a while to get an appointment with Dr. Liu; but I am glad I finally did; because she has me headed towards a new medication regimen; for which I am extremely optimistic. There are no wasted words with her; which I appreciate. Glad she finally had a spot for me!

I met Dr. Liu during my junior year of college in the midst of an incredibly dark time in my life. She identified a diagnosis during our first visit and prescribed medication that has changed my life. Many people go through rounds of different diagnoses or medications with some doctors but Dr. Liu nailed it for me the first time. She has been helpful and accommodating during my move out of state.

Dr. Liu is the best of the best. As she has BOTH an MD in Neurology, and a PhD in Psychiatry, she has an unparalleled understanding of the brain, its functions, interactions and chemicals. SIX specialists of varying fields could not determine what was wrong, Dr. Liu was able to pinpoint exact receptor/transmitters causing issues! She literally saved my life. I've been with her ever since. She is compassionate, resourceful and aims to do the most good with the least amount of meds to do so!
