I checked into the ER on Friday morning Nov 4th with an acute lower abdominal pain, spending the night in the hospital. It seemed initially like a surgical problem, so Dr. Shou was the supervising doctor and prescribed Augmentin for what seemed to be some sort of yet-to- be-identified infection. I had an in-person appointment with him on the 8th, but after a physical examination, he ordered an ultrasound scan of my right testicular area, and referred me to Dr. Li, a NYPH urologist. I initially thought Dr. Shou's manner was abrupt and hurried, but I now think that was based on a cultural misperception. I was impressed that he called me a few days later to see how I was. As it turned out, he was right; I had epididymitis, for which a more targeted antibiotic was prescribed. In short, I think Dr. Shou is a highly competent, careful and conscientious physician.

Dr Hsou was so humble and caring. Despite his busy schedule he took time to explain the procedure done in a clear and concise manner. He was accommodating and attentive to questions asked. Prior to my surgery he was reassuring which gave me confidence, faith and trust in him. I thank him for his compassion, kindness and expertise. May God bless him. The staff were friendly, helpful and caring. I was seen on time. Dr Hsou even reached out to inform me right away as to the results of the lab tests.

Dr. Shou is an amazing surgeon! He performed my gallbladder removal surgery. During my visit at the Cornell ED, his bedside manners and medical knowledge was very impressive; not once we felt rushed. I was reluctant to have the surgery right away. He reassured me and took the time to explain the short term and long term benefits and risks to make my own decision. Once I was ready for discharge from ER, he made sure I was contacted for the follow-up visit within 30 mins before My departure. How amazing is that? I chose to have the surgery as an outpatient. Everything went smoothly and as planned. He was even considerate of creating as little scars as possible. He also made sure his staffs provided outstanding services from arranging the procedure down to the recovery process. Thank you so much to Dr. Shou and his team!
