By the time I had waited 2 hours in the waiting rooms for my initial consultation for eyelid surgery, I was not a very cordial patient when Dr. Merritt finally walked in the examining room. She made no apologies for the wait. I then scheduled the surgery and had the same experience on the day of surgery, having to wait for over 2 hours...I left and asked for a refund of my $3000. What a fiasco it has been to get that refund! It finally came today after much back and forth and waiting weeks!!!

Wait time too long. Doctor not apologetic for the wait. Manager very unprofessional.
Calabash, NC |
Had a 2:30 appointment. Eyes dilated at 2:15. Sat in exam room until 3:45, no doctor showed up. I asked staff why and was told " dr is behind". So was I. So I walked out.my time is as valuable as the doctor's.

Dr Merritt may be technically qualified but she has a lot to learn about dealing with her patients. I was seen immediately by a tech and after the routine eye testing left in a room for over an hour to wait. When I mentioned to the DR that I was considering seeing someone else because of the wait she said, Go Ahead. There was no apology. She said because I was a first time patient it took that long to enter all my info. 5 mins worth of info entered in an hour. She was rude and not caring.

Dr. Merritt has been my doctor for years, but no longer...My last visit I was put into an exam room for 1 and 1/2 hours...the Doctor never came and a nurse never stopped by...finally I left...no one even spoke to me as I exited....It seems a lack of courtesy and professionalism.

Over the last 10 years we've been seeing her. Her care is excellent. That being said, we no longer will be her patients. We can no longer sit in the reception area for over 1 hour each visit before we even get called back to get eyes dilated and start that process. Wait time is generally 1 hr to 1 1/2 hour just in the reception area.
in Rock Hill, SC |
She cut too much off my right eyelid. I've had five eye surgeries due to her rushing during surgery. I would not let her treat my dog. She has ruined my life style. I had to tape my eye shut for eight months. Another doctor had to draft skin from behind my ear to make a new eyelid that would shut. I now have ceramic tubes in my eyes and still have problems. The tubes stop up ever though I do the power blow daily.
