Dr. Zilberfarb completed his General Surgery Internship at the Naval Hospital in San Diego California, and then spent two years as a Battalion Surgeon for the 1/1 Marine Infantry Unit, travelling throughout the Western Pacific. Following his orthopedic residency at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, Lieutenant Commander Zilberfarb took care of United States Marines at Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital in North Carolina where he also published several research papers on a variety of sports medicine topics. Upon completion of his Navel obligation in 1994, Dr. Zilberfarb was awarded the prestigious Rowe Shoulder Fellowship at the Mass General Hospital. He joined the BIDMC Orthopedic Surgery Department the following year and partnered with Dr. Louis Meeks in private practice in 1997. As a faculty member at the Harvard Medical School, Dr. Zilberfarb teaches surgery residents-in-training and is the director of the Meeks and Zilberfarb Orthopedics/Harvard Medical Student Sports Medicine elective. His charismatic personality and expertise earned his the BIDMC Orthopedic Surgery Department "Teacher of the Year" award in 2007 and he captured a nomination for Outstanding Harvard Medical School teacher in 2011. Splitting his time between the Brookline Office and the new Center in Dedham, Dr. Zilberfarb specializes in shoulder and sports injuries. He has highly skilled expertise in minimally invasive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle. He treats all shoulder problem, including rotator cuff tears, instability, fractures, and arthritis; as well as nerve compression syndromes and all lower extremity problems. Additionally, Dr. Zilberfarb performs Total Shoulder Replacement surgery and earned a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.
