This content was provided by Dr. Sorkin "Jeffrey A. Sorkin, M.D., a native of the Boston area, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Brandeis University, earning his undergraduate degree with Highest Honors in biology in 1987. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Florida where he was selected by the faculty to serve as Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the renowned Emory University Eye Center in Atlanta. Since 2000, Dr. Sorkin, a board-certified ophthalmologist, has practiced in Peabody. He maintains a large pediatric ophthalmic practice that services the referral base of the majority of pediatricians on the north shore. He specializes in the medical and surgical management of eye disorders in children as well as strabismus in adults. This includes adjustable suture surgery for complicated strabismus, and the management of disorders of the lacrimal system. He has vast experience in treating complicated refractive errors including the management of refractive and strabismus related amblyopia. Dr. Sorkin also maintains an active contact lens practice, including the use of soft contact lenses for treating astigmatism with toric lenses, and presbyopia with bifocal contact lenses. Dr. Sorkin is on the medical staff of Childrens Hospital Boston, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the New England Ophthalmological Society, the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He maintains staff privileges at Northshore Medical Center and Beverly Hospital (member of Lahey Health). Dr. Sorkin is available for consultation in all areas of pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus, including the management of diplopia (double vision) and cosmetic ocular deviations"
