Yes. I would. In 1993 I broke my femur in a car accident and Dr. Shapiro did the surgery. I had Pins and a metal rod for 1 year. He told my parent's and I my bone would grow back because I was young. at 13, I didn't think it was possible but I went with it. 1 year later my bone grew back, the metal rod was removed. I did physical therapy after surgery and after removing the rod. Everything in life has been normal since. Thank you Dr. Shapiro. Forever grateful.

I approached my total knee replacement with much trepidation, but Dr Shapiro was confidence inspiring and reassuring. He and his associates were magnificent-things could not have gone better and I have recommended him to friends who love him as much as I do. It was my first surgical experience in a hospital, and from pre-op to procedure to release and follow up, DrShapiro and LIJ/Northwell were so much better than I could have expected. I highly recommend DrShapiro and LIJ for a knee replacement

I have known Dr. Shapiro for close to 30 years . He is one of the most caring physicians I know. He has done multiple surgeries on me and every time he has helped me through them. He also knows his limitations and refers you appropriately to another health care provider, that he, himself would use.. He also always has a smile on his face
Replaced my mother-in-laws two knees and she was very satisfied. Dr. Shapiro has an excellent bedside manner and is extremely knowledgeable. My wife had a fractured hip and he did not recommend surgery and he was correct and the hip healed on its own. I went to him last month for a hip problem and was told I may require future surgery. I was only then informed that Dr. Shapiro no longer operates on hips. Because of this lack of info. I gave him 4 stars instead of 5.

I had my very 1st appoint with Dr Shapiro on Oct 27/16. I waited 1 hour and the excuse was to blame their new merge with NYU. He examined me and said that if my condition doesn't improve in 10 days I should call and ask a prescription for an MRI. From here on the painful experience unleashed. I had to do an MRI and I called for the duration of 2 weeks until his staff told me that I finally have the prescription. Then I spent 1 extra week to chase after them and ask to handle the insurance autho

Dr.Shapiro and his staff are excellent ,my mom is 83 years young and Dr.Shapiro replaced both her knees @ different times .We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome for my mom each time she had the replacements done .Highly recommend Dr.Shapiro, his staff, Long Island Jewish Hosp.where he performed the surgery.Thank god he had my mom up and walking around in 3-4 weeks :)
Thank you for your kind words and feedback. We are so glad that we could exceed your expectations and thank you for the highest compliment of recommending us to other future patients. Be well!

Dr. Shapiro replaced my knee 1/16. I had been to several ortho physicians and never found one that I would recommend. A friend suggested Dr. Shapiro as it was clear that a knee replacement was necessary. I can't imagine getting through the long recovery with any other team. Dr. Shapiro & staff were responsive, and I felt really cared how I felt. Today I went back following a fall and again he was compassionate and reassuring. I will be forever grateful to him and have recommended him often.

I have been taking my 85 year old mom to Dr. Shapiro for the last 3 years. She adores Dr. Shapiro and does not want to see anyone else. Even with her back pain she doesn't mind the one hour round trip to see him. She finds him extremely caring, patient and understanding. I love the way he talks directly to my mom even though I am in the room also. Would recommend him to anyone.
in Deer Park, NY |
Dr. Shapiro was very friendly and answered all of my questions. I was in and out and felt very confident with his diagnosis.
in Bayside, NY |
Dr. Shapiro was Great. He gave me my life back and I'm able to exercise again. I don't equate exercise with pain anymore and I just could not be happier. So glad I got my new knee and definitely glad I used Dr shapiro.

Dr. Shapiro is a very caring and attentive doctor. He always takes the time to address all of my concerns. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Shapiro.
in Brooklyn, NY |
It has been over a year that Dr. Shapiro did arthroscopic surgery on my knee. I was in pain and am still in pain for the past 14 months. When asked for relief he accused me of being a drug addict. He gave me a shot and said it was probably pain in my bursar. I went to intense physical therapy and am still in pain. I had arthroscopic surgery on my other knee many years ago and was back to normal in 3 weeks. I would avoid Dr. Shapiro like the plague. He should not be practicing medicine.
in Kew Gardens, NY |
Dr. SHAPIRO besides his intense wealth of knowledge, his immense skill as a surgeon and hi fine bedside manner, he is caring and what we call in Yiddish, a big Mentch. I have been with Dr. Shapiro since he first opened his practice and I honestly feel there are very few surgeons or people that stack up.

Very smart , has his routine he goes thru with the assistant there it was my first knee replacement so didn't have any idea what to expect The surgery is very painful and the therapy after needs to be aggressive by patient I did wake up during the proceedings but for a few seconds to see the Dr wailing with a hammer and punch banging my knee back together he will tell you that he will keep you out of pain they lie!!!!
