Care Philosophy

Duke has a tremendous hospital and tremendous people to work with. The quality of care here is excellent and really cant be compared to anywhere else. Thats what keeps me here. We do more complex heart surgeries here than almost anyone else in the country. When you need heart surgery you want it done by someone who does a lot of it. Our numbers are comparable to the top places in the country. We do complex surgery and we do it well. The thing about heart surgery is that we make people better. Thats what I really like helping people who couldnt breathe or couldnt walk because their heart was failing and we were able to make them better.

DR Gaca performed a second open heart surgery on me. First surgery was done 18 month prior and calcified after 18 month. Surgeon who performed first surgery said he could not do second surgery. Friend of mine recommended cardiologist at Duke who recommended Dr Gaca highly. There was never a question that this surgery was going to get done, no problem and such confidence and knowledge. The surgery was successful, and I felt better after 2nd surgery and healed faster then before. Best Surgeon.
