Care Philosophy

My approach to patient care is one of a team approach between the patient and physicians. Please do not mistake my honesty for a poor bedside manner. It may not be what you want to hear but I will always tell you the truth. It is not always possible to reverse a lifetime of bad habits and I will let you know that up front. And sometimes diseases "just happen" and have nothing to do with the patient's habits, but of their genetic composition. Medicine is always evolving. I will always do my best to make a diagnosis, but you must realize that there is an "art" to medicine and although it is a science there are not always clear cut answers. If I am late, know that if you were the patient that needed the extra time, you would get it at the expense of othersRead more

My Dad survived pneumonia 3 times at the hospital with Dr. Dorf as his pulmonologist. My family requested several times a referral to Jewish National Hospital in Denver, Colorado a top hospital. My Dad did not survive after about 45 days in Heart Hospital, Lovelace and Kindred. My Dad said everyone is making a nickel on me and he was right. My Dad even survived heart surgery while he was there. My advice, go anywhere else for care. They would not honor his request to go home to die.

Dr. Dorf's office is extremely disorganized. The first appointment was in March. The pre authorization was available April 5th. Multiple calls were made to his office and radiology. Scheduling did not happen until June 3rd. Dr. Dorf has had the results since at least June 7th when he left a voicemail. June 9th his nurse refused to provide details of the results and said I'm going to dodge that bullet. June 14th the office refused to provide a copy of the medical records. Enough said.

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
