Jason Weaver | Semmes Murphey Neurologic and Spine Institute
Dr. Jason Weaver was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1974 and grew up outside of Omaha, Nebraska. He obtained his Bachelor's degree at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, where he graduated top of his class, with majors in both chemistry and biology. He then went on to Saint Louis University School of Medicine where he obtained his medical degree, graduating summa cum laude in 2001. He was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, an honorary medical society for the top of the medical school class. After internship in General Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Dr. Weaver went on to complete residency with the University of Tennessee Department of Neurosurgery and the Semmes Murphey Clinic in Memphis. He graduated from the program in 2007.
Also in 2007, Dr. Weaver completed a clinical fellowship in spine oncology and neuro-oncology at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. While there, he worked extensively with many medical disciplines in the care of the cancer patient.
Dr. Weaver joined the Semmes Murphey Clinic in 2007. In addition to serving as a general neurosurgeon, Dr. Weaver is specifically interested in neuro-oncology and spinal tumors and ensuring cancer patients receive the comprehensive, state-of-the-art care locally. He has developed a comprehensive radiosurgery program to treat brain and spine tumors without the need for an incision in some cases. Dr. Weaver also has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgical procedures of the spinal column to treat not only tumors but trauma, disc herniations, myelopathy, spondylolisthesis, trauma, etc.
Dr. Weaver has been married to Dr. Virginia "Jenny" Weaver since 2003. She is a bariatric surgeon with Saint Francis Surgical Weight Loss Center. They have two children.
