Dr. Ferrel is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in neck and spine surgery. Raised in Canton, Ohio, Dr. Ferrel earned his medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, where he was ranked first in a class of 104. He then completed his orthopedic residency with Mount Carmel Health System, here in Columbus, where he served as Chief Orthopedic Surgery Resident and earned the John R. Kean Resident of the Year award. Dr. Ferrel has a special interest in minimally invasive and motion preserving spine procedures, including microscopic and ligament-sparing cervical and lumbar spine surgeries. He specializes in both artificial disc replacement surgery and spinal fusions for treatment of degenerative disc disease. He also has additional training to care for complex spine and spinal cord problems including spine cancers/tumors, spinal deformities, spine trauma, and revision spine surgeries. Dr. Ferrel and his wife reside in Bexley with their two children. His personal interests include traveling, golfing, snowboarding, soccer, football, running and cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
