Two years ago on the Fourth of July, I ended up at Mass Eye and Ear hospital with a detached retina and needing to have emergency surgery. I was very lucky that Dr. Comander was on call that day. He and his team were wonderful in explaining what was going on and what the recovery would be. I have followed up with Dr. Comander and continue to be grateful that he is my retina doctor. If I could have chosen a doctor it would have been Dr. Comander.

Simply put, Dr. Commander is Brilliant. My wife has been a patient with Mass. ear & eye for 15 years and was seen by Dr. C. For the first time. He took the necessary time to explain a very complicated issue, answered every question, provided detailed explanation of all the R&D in place. He was realistic, yet very kind in delivery of the results.

I have Stargardt disease and have been to a few retinal doctors; they have huge caseloads, little patient time and poor social skills. Dr. Comander is a breath of fresh air, exhibiting patience & consideration. His office is staffed by professional and courteous people. I spent six hours going thru a painless & thorough battery of tests, photographs and evaluations documenting my disease. Dr. Comander then explained everything carefully and with genuine concern. I left MEEI feeling confident.
