Dr. Westervelt did gall bladder surgery on my mother. I went to appointment with her and had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Westervelt and his staff. The staff was amazing! Dr. Westervelt was very kind and had great bed side manner. Not only do my mother and I recommend him, but all the staff at Bayfront that saw Dr. Westervelt's name on the chart had nothing but great things to say about him. They started with what an amazing surgeon he is and continued with how great of a person he is all the way around. I feel that my mother got the best care from Dr. Westervelt and his office staff did and followed up with everything they told me they would do.

Dr. Westervelt did a great job on my hernia repair. My lower back and abdominal pain were alleviated by the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Westervelt for his surgical expertise, and his obvious care and concern for his patients. And the office staff was very professional and efficient.

As someone who relies heavily on reviews, I’ve realized the importance of leaving my own. Dr. Westervelt took my gallbladder out almost 7 years ago, and he couldn’t have been nicer, professional, or more caring. I would definitely go to him again ... although, hoping I never have to.

Dr Westervelt performed surgery as an elective procedure for my chronic constipation. He ended up removing 80% of my colon without my consent and now I have hypothyroidism, chronic diarrhea, severe insomnia, extreme lethargy, 50 lb weight gain, and basically my life is forever changed. I wish I never let him agree to “help” me. There was no follow up care about what could happen to my body. I went undiagnosed with the thyroid for 5 years, and almost lost my life due to extreme depression.

As a surgical rep, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Dr. Westervelt in the OR on many occasions. I was always impressed with his bedside manner pre, peri and post operatively. It’s abundantly clear that he’s a surgeon who truly cares about the patients he serves, employing innovative techniques that result in less post op pain. My Inguinal hernia repair was perfect. Very little pain, fast recovery and excellent communication throughout. Highly recommend this very talented surgeon.

Here I sit with my spouse in excruciating pain post op. This Dr. was on call tonight. I have had his answering service leave 4 messages for him, a hours later.... crickets. Guess someone needs to explain what on call means to him. Thank goodness he is not her actual surgeon, and he’s just the guy on call, because his reliability is a big fat zero.

I went to see this doctor about removing a growth from my back. My visit was in December and I was told to call after the first of the year to schedule my procedure because they were moving offices. When I called in January, I was told that he was no longer part of the practice and no one knew where he was. Basically, he lied to me so that he could get money from me and my insurance and never had any intention of actually helping me. If you need a surgeon, go see Eugene Murphy instead.

After surgery by Dr. Westervelt, I was in horrendous pain. He would not return my calls to him or my visit to his office to please call. He never called & I ended up having to go to the ER. After my surgery, the nurse in the recovery room said that two people had to hold me down on the surgical table.....the reason was I woke up during the surgery. Obviously, I was in tremendous pain. Anyone considering surgery by him should check his license. If only I had done this prior to surgery!
