Dr. Olson is unable to effectively communicate at the patient level. He lacks the emotional intelligence necessary to engage in a conversation so the patient is able to fully understand. He also does not attempt to be sensitive to family members either during his communication. Instead, he remains at his intellectual level sharing facts and medical terminology irrespective of whether or not the patient and family are fully comprehending. When asked to simplify he is defensive.

Dr. Olson took much more time with me than I expected. He explaining the procedures and what my options were. He understood the urgency of my condition and wanted to make sure that I was comfortable with the procedures and the time lines. I came prepared to ask numerous questions, but he covered everything so thoroughly that when we were done, I had very few questions. He made me feel very much at ease.

      Why Does Experience Matter?
