Dr. Neel's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Neel "I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I have spent many years completing my medical training and lived in various locations along the way. It has always been my dream to return to my home state and take care of my fellow "Okies". My family and I are thrilled to be back in Oklahoma close to our family and friends. "

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Neel "I am blessed to have the training, education, and expertise to allow me to conduct operations on the heart, lungs and blood vessels.  I can envision no more fulfilling endeavor for me to pursue.

My philosophy in treating patients and helping them navigate the confusing maze of medical information is to give them all of the information in plain terminology and discuss all of the potential risks, benefits, and alternatives to surgical therapy.  In medical school, we essentially learned a foreign language as a means to discuss medical conditions, treatments, etc. with our colleagues.  If I come into your room and start speaking in Spanish, you could be a rocket scientist; if you never learned Spanish, you will have no idea what I am talking about.  The same applies to medical terminology.  Just because you may not have attended medical school doesn't mean you or your family member are not perfectly intelligent.  You just didn't learn the same foreign language we learned in medical school.

I see my role as physician, and specifically as a heart surgeon, to give my patients the benefits of my training and experience by interpreting all of the medical jargon and laying all of the information out in front of them so they are able to understand all of the options and then we together decide on their best method of treatment.  I support them in their decision making process all along the way.   Ultimately, it is always the patient's decision."
