Dr. Matiko's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Matiko "Dr. Matiko received his M.D. Degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Tulane University in New Orleans. He then went on to complete two Hand Surgery Fellowships one at Loma Linda University and one at the University of Louisville, and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Van Nuys. As the Director of Orthopaedic Upper Extremity Surgery at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and Assistant Clinical Professor at Loma Linda University Medical Center, he enjoys working closely with medical students and residents. It is his belief that patient education is essential and he has given many lectures to community groups regarding orthopaedic problems. Dr. Matiko likes to surround himself with people that are smarter than he is. "I like to approach any operation with the feeling (right or wrong) that there is no one in the country that could perform that surgery better than I can. If I don't feel that way and there is an option available, I would refer the patient to someone who can do the procedure better." Volunteerism and mission work are extremely important to Dr. Matiko and he has spent a great deal of his time providing his expertise to underserved people in places around the world such as Nepal and Bhutan. He has lived in the Inland Empire for 30 years and he and his wife Becky have 2 children. Other interests are many types of music, computers, and photography."

I have never meet or talked to Dr. Matiko, he did however perform trauma surgery on my hand. If I could have had a conversation with him I may have had an opportunity to be included in how my hand works for the rest of my life. For that matter if anyone at Arrowhead Regional would have given me any...more

I felt that he ignored my concerns and did not address my needs for pain management especially during a time when I had to stop taking my NSAID for 10 days in preparation for a procedure. I had to go to another physician to get alternative pain medication approval for my back pain. I found his...more

Dr. Matiko is very knowledgeable and I trust his opinion completely. He has little bedside manner, but that is not important to me. Although I really like Dr. Matiko and feel he is an extremely competent doctor and surgeon, I will be going elsewhere because the length of time to get an appointment...more

Information not clear or complete when discussing medical issues. Wait is typically long. Does not spend much time w/this patient. Orders/referrals/medical equipment very slow. I have waited over a year for medically necessary wrist braces, and am still waiting...
