My daughter has learning disabilities, so it can be hard for her to explain how she feels when she is sick. Dr. Mathews is so patient with her. I took her in earlier this week because she was very ill and dehydrated. He made sure she got IV fluids at the office and ran tests. He did suggest we go to the ER to get her checked because he knew that something was wrong. They finally found that she did have pneumonia and another infection. Dr Mathews also called me later in the day to see how my daughter was doing. Such a great guy!

We chose Dr Matthews as our Primary Care Physician when we recently moved to Logan on the recommendation of a few friends. We had a decades-long relationship with our previous doctor and are very pleased that Dr Matthews has the same kind of caring concern and ability to diagnose and refer our numerous ailments to specialists. We especially appreciate his follow-up phone calls. It has also been easy to get appointments within a day or two and the office staff is good at taking care of prescriptions, referrals etc.

He likes to type on his computer rather than look at you. I tried to explain my symptoms and what I was feeling to him. He interrupt and said he couldn't do more than one thing at a time. Meaning type on his computer and listen. He did refer me out to another doctor, that was a good thing meaning I'll not have to go back to him. His office staff are flippant. I recieved my ultrasound results from the office receptionist, the doctor doesn't really care, he just seems to love his computer.

Dr. Mathews has been caring for my wife who has dementia for over two years, and I can't imagine any doctor who would have done a better job. He is totally focused, genuinely concerned with even the smallest details of her health and comfort, and we are just so grateful that we were referred to him when Debbie entered the Sunshine Terrace and needed a Cache Valley doctor. He is all we could ever expect of him and more!

I started seeing Dr. Mathews when my long time doctor retired. I had been seeing him for 35-40 years. And I admit, I’m kind of an ‘old school’ guy. I was downhearted and sure that I would never find another doctor that I would like as well. But I was pleased to find an immediate rapport with Dr. Matthews. He put me at ease, and I have found both him and his clinic to be top notch. I would recommend Dr. Matthews and Providence Family Medcine highly.

Doctor James Mathews recently assisted me with a health issue that needed "immediate attention." Dr. Mathews' acquired medical expertise and experience was evident, as he immediately identified the problem, arranged to get the problem resolved; including getting other procedures set up. Dr. Mathews is personable and pleasant -- PLUS -- he "listens" while assessing what is needed -- felt confident in his care. I really like him and would recommend him highly!

I called my regular physician due to a lingering sickness, he was completely booked. However, Dr. Mathews had an opening in his schedule and was willing to meet with me. Dr. Mathews gave me his direct attention while I explained what was going on. After his examination and assessment, we discussed the proposed treatment plan and what I could expect. He wrote two prescriptions for me and several days later, I am feeling much better. I found Dr. Mathews to be thorough and very professional.

Dr. Matthews has been my doctor since we moved to Logan, UT nearly 4 years ago. A consummate professional, he took the time to get to know me and what I do. He is very thorough in his examinations, and takes his time -- I have never felt "rushed". In the last two weeks I have had multiple, significant health issues, including a visit to the emergency room and a few days in the ICU. Once again, he did not simply "pass me off, but stayed completely involved. BTW, the staff in his office are great!
