I have seen Dr. Hiatt on several occasions for diabetic eye checkups. Recently he preformed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. I choose the Crystalens. I now have 20/20 vision at all ranges. Dr. Hiatt and his staff were very informative before the surgery and I am very happy with all the results. I highly recommend Dr. Hiatt.

Dr Hiatt and his staff have taken extremely good care of myself and the many family members I have referred to his office. He is professional, runs a well organized office and his staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Dr Hiatt is thorough with his examinations, and explanations.

Dr Hiatt is clearly knowledgeable, but his bed side manner is severely lacking. Constant, and I do mean constant, complaining about Medicare and other health insurance reimbursement. So much so that he is considering leaving ophthalmology surgery and doing basic exams. That is not my concern. I am there for my health care not his constant barrage of complaints. His negative attitude reflects on the other staff members. I appreciate his expertise but not his complaining.
Gilbert, AZ |
He shares his religious and political beliefs too freely which is inappropriate in an office setting. Dr. Hiatt was unaware that the FDA had approved a new drug for dry eye. His staff suggested a procedure would be performed but Dr Hiatt refused to do it and his reasoning seemed convoluted and dismissive He also refused to write a prescription for my eye condition which is painful. He was very interested in making a follow up appointment ; No thank you, look elsewhere.

Dr. Hiatt is largely responsible for saving the sight in my left eye. A few years ago I had been to several other doctors trying to understand the symptoms I was having. They either had no idea what was wrong or thought I was imagining my symptoms. Dr. Hiatt was the only one who took the time to figure out that I had fluid leaking under my retina and sent me to see a retina specialist who was able to do surgery to save my eyesight. Then the last few months a cataract had formed in that same eye

The minute I met Dr. Hiatt, I knew that I had made the best choice for myself. He was forthright and personable while presenting me with his diagnosis and prognosis. Dr. Hiatt encouraged me to ask questions and even told me to bring someone in to the exam room who could ask questions I hadn't thought of. I had complete understanding of my procedures. When I entered the surgery center I was put at ease by his caring staff. Dr. Hiatt will give you every consideration that he gives to others.
Awesome experience! Both my parents had their cataracts removed by Dr. Hiatt. My only complaint is the wait time for surgery, which is about 3 hours before they were called back to the surgical suite. The staff informs you of the expected wait time during the consultation appointment, though.
