I am board certified in internal medicine and currently am up to date in maintenance of certification process. I average over 100 hours a year in continuing education. I served as physician advisor for utilization review and performance improvement for many years (0ver 20). I believe in stating the options that a patient has and making a joint decision on how to proceed. You will get a diagnosis or a working diagnosis and a plan for care and follow up. I may try to change a patient's mind if I feel that they are making a bad decision, but after the ramifications of that decision are discussed and appear to be understood, the patient's decision is final, although we may revisit it from time to time. I believe in valuing a patient's time, especially if they value mine. We have a very good on time record at our office, but it is highly dependent on patients arriving on time and being prepared. You will get a summary of each office visit when you leave the office, with diagnosis, medicine changes, lab and tests or consultations requested, and your current medicines (as you state them).Read more
