I would definitely recommend Dr. Balserak. He removed some painful lipomas from my arm recently. The procedure was painless and he made me feel quite comfortable. He is very easy to talk to.

I had my thyroid removed by Dr. Balserak. Never was there a mention of monitoring my vocal chord nerve OR testing on the table. I trusted him because of the great reviews and learned the hard way! You need to have your vocal chord nerves monitored! I was a singer ,now I have a paralyzed vocal chord. Also because he didn't test on the table had to go back a month later and have the second half of my thyroid out! 2 surgeries and a paralyzed vocal chord , ALL COULD have been prevented! Nice guy but that doesn't cut it. Definitely have this done in the hospital! They offer these services inpatient. His outpatient services don't!

Dr Stanton referred me to Dr Balserak after results from a CT Scan showed an issue on the right side of my thyroid. The biopsy showed I had papillary thyroid cancer and needed a total thyroidectomy. I questioned if surgery was done as I felt no pain. I do not take pain meds. Dr Balserak released me from the hospital but the traveling nurse did not want me to go home and found a doctor to admit me. No one told Dr Balserak that I was admitted. He did call and leave a message the next day to see how I was doing. When my voice didn’t come back completely he referred me to Dr Stratagoules, ENT who performed surgery on my vocal cords. My only wish is Dr Balserak’s expertise extended in more areas. He is an excellent surgeon, doctor and person. Before surgery I had a huge scar on my neck from a biopsy performed at St Joseph Hospital and Dr Balserak used that area for the thyroidectomy and now I have one very small scar (unnoticeable by others). Thank you Dr Balserak
