Dr. Budny was born and raised in Buffalo, New York where he graduated from St. Joseph's Collegiate institute in 2000. From there, he went on to the University of Rochester, in Rochester, New York. Here, he studied biology, German, and physchology. He earned his BS in Biology, BA in German, and a minor in psychology. While he was there, he had a successful career as a decathlete on the U of R track team. He was an NCAA Division III New York state Champion 3 times in the decathlon, and twice in the Pentathlon. He was captain of the team in his junior and senior years. In his senior year, he became an NCAA Divsion III All - American in the Decathlon while competing in the national competition. From there, he went on to the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He graduated in 2009 as part of the Osteopathic Honors Society. After medical school, he did his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University at Buffalo residency program. He was the administrative chief resident in his fifth year. He graduated, being awarded the Ted Papedemitriou Award for dedication to teaching in residency. In addition, he won awards as a top resident at the Erie County Medical Society, and the Seigel award from the University at Buffalo for dedication to teaching. He then attended the Emory University Adult Reconstruction fellowship from 2014-2015. While there, he learned advanced techniques in total hip and knee reconstruction, as well as multiple other techniques to cure hip and knee disorders. Upon graduation, he joined a private practice in western Pennsylvania and practiced for two years, completing over 800 cases and becoming a member of the American Association of hip and Knee Surgeons. While in practice, he became Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. To be closer to family, he moved with his wife, Jaime, and son, Weston, to the Richmond area. He is a proud father and dedicated family man. He enjoys being with his family, hiking mountains, taking care of his two dogs, and running. His other hobbies include house remodeling and astronomy.

My personal care philosophy is to treat every patient the way that I would want myself and my family to be treated. My role as a physician is not only to treat your musculoskeletal issues, but also help you to better understand the problem at hand. Healing is a physical process as much as it is a mental process. To better serve you and to return you to your previous level of function, I will strive to give you great orthopedic care as well as inform you of all of the reasons behind your treatment plan.
