Didn't appreciate him talking down to me and the lecturing. He kept repeating himself "I know what I'm doing. I've been doing this for 13 years". He then tells me after a 3 minute exam, that I needed Sacral injections and that every patient who takes pain meds becomes an addict. I did injections for years...eventually they stop helping. I'm assuming he's a good doctor but his delivery and communication with patients is severely lacking.

Condescending. Made multiple assumptions about me and the cause of my pain. Didn’t ask questions or let me explain anything. I felt defensive through entire visit.

Dr. Lam is the first doctor who didn't just throw pills at me and genuinely wanted to help. I am a stage 3 triple positive breast cancer survivor who takes Letrozole. Causes tons of pain in my legs. I've been on paid meds for years for the pain, and have been itching to get off the dumb things for a while now. With Dr. Lam's expert advice, I am now taking Hemp Oil and it's working really well. I am finally able to stop taking the opiates! If you are looking for a pain doctor who genuinely wants to help you become pain free, I recommend him with all my body and soul. He is fantastic!

I have had several visits with Dr. Lam and on each one he really impressed me. I have been a lot of pain for a very long time, not just my back pain. Dr.Lam made a very good impression on me from day one. He listened when I explained my problems and was very good at explaining what needed to be done next. As we proceeded Dr. Lam was very concerned about my health and gave me some very good advice on what I can do at home to further help myself get rid of the pain. I knew he was correct in this advice since I too had begun to do the very thing he suggested. No I was not at all offended when he suggested I try and lose some weight to take the weight off my back. Dr. Lam genuinely cares that I get better verses taking lots of meds and I for one appreciate him for that. I would definitely recommend Dr. Lam to everyone I know. Thank you Dr. Lam for all you do and yes I am still working on my weight loss, thanks for caring enough to be honest.

Since moving to the Raleigh, NC area, Dr. Lam has been taking care of my chronic back pain. When I presented for my first appointment, I was greeted by a cheerful staff member and quickly escorted to an exam room. Dr. Lam came in and I was immediately impressed. He put me at ease and was genuinely interested in my problems. We discussed what my plan of care was and I came away from that initial visit reassured. The first visit I had for a spinal pain injection was a little scary but Dr. Lam's bedside manner put me at ease. Dr. Lam is so professional and his expertise is amazing. He always listens to what I have to say about my condition and explains things almost before I have to ask. This doctor truly knows his stuff! An important factor, for me, is that I can look Dr. Lam in the eyes, tell him what is going on with me and he LISTENS! He gives me FEEDBACK! He is so smart and so gentle and I know he TRULY CARES about the outcome of my treatments.

I have seen Dr. Jack Lam a number of times, and find him to be very personable. He explains your diagnosis, and your choices for treatment. He discusses your treatment with you, and answers any questions. He has a very good bedside manner. He is excellent at giving injections. (Not everyone is). He also has an excellent staff. I would recommend him to anyone.

VERY RUDE. Basically called us stupid and told us to refer to the internet for information on condition. Isn't that his job to help and inform patients. I wish i could give a negative stars.

I saw Dr Lam today and he was AWESOME... He was very personable and reassuring.. He took his time with me, I had some reservations about my procedure.. Not once did I feel rushed or anything.. He was booked with a full schedule but still made sure he attended to me and cared about my wellbeing.. I would recommend him to others if needed.. He’s great at what he does!

As a pain management doctor--erratic treatment plans, petulant, very unpleasant person. As an anesthesiologist, he might be good when his patients are unconscious. He gets frustrated/irritated when his pain management "plan" isn't working. Seems like mainly what he wants to get in and out as fast as possible. Seems like he really doesn't like doing pain management. Office policy requires arrival 30 minutes before appointment time. Then appointments run 20-30 minutes late.

Dr Lam seemed fine before lumbar nerve block.During the procedure, I developed bad pain in my thigh. In recovery, the pain increased dramatically and very high bp. He ignored my explaining that this started during the proced, pulled my leg and said I have something wrong with my hip and to get xrays. He said he would only give me toradol shot, steroids. Totally blew me and my husband off. Lost use of my leg when I got home ended up in ER doc questioning why I was released in the shape I was in.

I was not treated like a person in pain that needed help. He told me that I failed my last drug test. He stated that there was no morphine or oxycodone in my system. I ran out of my meds the day before is the only reason that they would not be there. I told him about my depression from then on it seemed that he thought my pain was all in my head. I admit part of my depression is pain related, but my pain is NOT depression related. I do have other issues affecting my depression.
