A native New Yorker, Jack Gabay, MD, has been in private practice in South Florida since 1987. Upon receiving his medical degree from the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine in 1980, Dr. Gabay went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and his residency in Ophthalmology at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Gabay's expertise includes cataract surgery (both small incision and femtosecond laser cataract surgery), refractive surgery (surface laser, PRK), comprehensive Diabetic eye care, ocular manifestations of systemic disease and general ophthalmology. In 1997, shortly after the Food and Drug Administration approved the excimer laser, Dr. Gabay became certified by VISX to perform laser vision correction procedures for the treatment of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. In 2013, Dr. Gabay was certified as a laser cataract physician on the LensAR system at the Medical Arts Surgery Center in Baptist Hospital. Before joining the Center For Excellence in Eye Care in 1996, Dr. Gabay was Chief of Ophthalmology for CAC Ramsey HMO in the late 1980's. In 1991, Dr. Gabay founded the South Florida Ophthalmology Network. He is a staff member at Baptist Hospital of Miami. Other surgical affiliations include Surgical Park and Baptist Medical Arts Surgery centers. Dr. Gabay is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Miami Ophthalmologic Society. He has also been voted by his peers as one of the Best Doctors for multiple, consecutive years. Dr. Gabay enjoys many activities in his spare time, including scuba diving, downhill snow skiing and wine tasting.
