Dr. Abujubara's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Abujubara "Dr. Islam Abujubara joined IMS' Neurology Department in July 2011 and has opened a new practice location on the John C. Lincoln Hospital/North Mountain campus. Dr. Abujubara (his patients call him "Dr. AJ") is the Chief of Neurology at IMS. He completed medical school at Jordan University of Sciences and Technology. During his last year of schooling, he authored a book entitled, The Beautiful Mind, Use it or Lose it, which details memory formation and how to make the best use of our brains. At that point, it was clear to him that he wanted to continue his medical career learning more about the physiology and pathology of the human nervous system. In his last year of medical school, Dr. Abujubara did an elective rotation at the Baylor College of Medicine, TX. Following medical school, he completed residency in Internal Medicine and Neurology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and received extensive training in Neurophysiology (EEG, NCSs and EMGs). He was named 'Best Resident' by the nursing staff and received the 2009 Jeff Nicholas prize for his dedication towards the care of veterans. Dr. Abujubara is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. AJ has presented his research at the American Academy of Neurology annual meetings, one which was selected as one of the best abstracts of the year at the 2011 AAN meeting in Honolulu. Dr. AJ enjoys spending time with his wife Heba and child and enjoys sports, movies, and traveling."
