I evaluate and treat adults, couples and families for many different psychological problems, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychiatric symptoms of Lyme disease. As a medical doctor, I am able to understand both the biologic, psychological, and social/family components of illness. I can order diagnostic laboratory tests and prescribe medications if they are needed. Dr. Kitzman has been practicing general adult Psychiatry since 1984, after graduating from the Yale University Department of Psychiatry, where she was a Chief Resident at the West Haven Veterans' Administration Hospital. Most recently, she was appointed Clinical Associate Professor at the University of AZ and was Director of the Outpatient Clinic at Kino-UPH hospital, where she taught doctors training to be Psychiatrists.

She evaluates and treats adults, couples and families for many different psychological problems, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychiatric symptoms of Lyme disease.  As a trained physician (medical doctor), she is able to understand both the biologic, psychological, and social/family components of illness. She can order diagnostic laboratory tests and prescribe medications if they are needed.  She can provide a wide range of different kinds of psychotherapies to help change feelings and behavior, including cognitive behavioral therapy (which involves learning new ways of thinking about long-standing psychological problems), psychodynamic therapy (which involves learning about the causes of difficulties in interpersonal relationships related to past experiences), and systems therapy (which involves viewing psychological symptoms as part of family dynamics).
