      Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

      • Individuals, Couples and Families: Evaluations and Treatment.
      • Named one of "AMERICA'S TOP PSYCHIATRISTS 2006" by the The Consumers Research Council of America.
      • Chief Resident and Graduate of Yale University Department of Psychiatry
      • Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of Mood Disorders and Anxiety Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Psychiatric Symptoms of Lyme Disease

I have been practicing general adult Psychiatry since 1984, after graduating from the Yale University Department of Psychiatry, where I was a Chief Resident at the West Haven Veterans' Administration Hospital.

I evaluate and treat adults, couples and families for many different psychological problems, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychiatric symptoms of Lyme disease.  As a medical doctor, I am able to understand both the biologic, psychological, and social/family components of illness. I can order diagnostic laboratory tests and prescribe medications if they are needed.  I can provide a wide range of different kinds of psychotherapies to help change feelings and behavior, including cognitive behavioral therapy (which involves learning new ways of thinking about long-standing psychological problems), psychodynamic therapy (which involves learning about the causes of difficulties in interpersonal relationships related to past experiences), and systems therapy (which involves viewing psychological symptoms as part of family dynamics).
