Idan Sharon, MD, is a private practitioner in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island, New York and an attending neurologist and psychiatrist at Cornell NY Methodist Hospital. After receiving a bachelor of arts degree in Biblical archaeology from the State University of New York at Albany, Dr. Sharon earned a medical degree from Tel-Aviv University School of Medicine in Ramat-Aviv, Israel, in 1993. He completed a first residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, New York, and a subsequent neurology residency at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Sharon is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, and the New York State Medical Society. He has won several prestigious awards in neuro-pharmacology. He has been an expert on several television and radio programs, and has served as an expert witness in the state supreme court system in multiple matters relating to collagen vascular, neurological and psychiatric disease states. Active in Internet medical endeavors, Dr. Sharon has written several Web-based textbook chapters for EMedicine and WebMD. He is the primary author of chapters on myasthenia gravis and pregnancy, shared psychotic disorder, acute nerve injury, dissociative disorder, and Huntington disease dementia. He has been featured on radio, television and in news journals on the topics of Headache and Anxiety.
