Dr. Ian Thompson established this practice in 2005. He completed his sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship in Taos, New Mexico. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Medical Education and Research Center through Michigan State University, received his medical education at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He has served as team doctor for the University of New Mexico Highland, Urbana University and Springfield High School, and currently serves as team doctor to Northeastern and Kenton Ridge High Schools. Dr. Thompson is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery through the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopic Association of North America, the Ohio State Medical Association and the Clark County Medical Society, and has been a manuscript reviewer for the Foot and Ankle International Journal. Dr. Thompson's expertise is in conditions of the knee and shoulder, sports medicine and general orthopaedics. He resides in Springfield with his wife Lori and their four children, Abigail, Claire, Charlie and Joey. He enjoys boating, swimming, snow skiing and spending time with friends and family.
