What can I say he saved my life! Faced with Open Heart surgery and having worked clinically in open heart in my past I knew what I was in for. Dr Tannous was recommended and my surgery was flawless. I’m 4 weeks out and could not be doing better. He’s technically one of the best and communicates clearly every step of the way. Very impressed with the entire team at Stony Brook!

Dr. Tannous removed a very rare cancerous tumor from my right lung. I lost the medial lobe with the tumor. I could have lost a second lobe if it were not for Dr. Tannous' skill as a surgeon and care for me as his patient. This Malignant Spindle cell tumor is rare and more so to have appeared in a lung. Dr. Tannous very clearly explained what I was to expect as an outcome good and bad. My recovery was good considering I am nearly 72 years old. I had Chemo therapy prior to surgery upon his suggestion and consultation with Dr. Amna Sher. The therapy reduced the size of the tumor by a third. This tumor appeared in a healthy lung inside of 8 weeks. Strangely it did not grow much at all from the time it was discovered by a CAT Scan to the day of surgery. By the third lung biopsy enough tissue was secured. But the hospital and Sloan Kettering could not ID the type of tumor until they got it out. I am very thankful to Dr. Tannous his staff and Stony Brook Hospital. I am alive and grateful.

Excellent, Exceptional, Confident yet humble; Honest, Brilliant and calm under pressure are words that describe Dr. Tannous. He saved our mom’s life!!! Dr. Tannous performed an emergency surgery when my mom was diagnosed with Aortic dissection both A and B complete tear. The odds were against mom who was on blood thinners and prednisone. Dr. Tannous not only defied those odds by performing this challenging surgery under the expected time, he surpassed our expectations. SBUH has the best surgeon!

I highly recommend Dr. Tannous. On my first visit Dr. Tannous had a telephone conference with my oncologist, my husband and I to make sure we were all clear on the situation. He immediately put us at ease demonstrating his confidence and compassion while he explained the planned procedure. A few weeks later he operated on me to remove a mediastinal mass to rule out metastatic breast cancer. He and his entire team were wonderful thorough and supportive.

It is my pleasure to give Dr. Tannous the highest recommendation possible. He recently performed two procedures on me and was, by far, the most caring, professional and accomplished physician I have been treated by in my 64 years on this earth. His entire staff reflects his commitment to his patients and takes the necessary time to listen and explain the options and treatments. He exemplifies the meaning of the Hippocratic Oath.

Dr Henry Tannous operated on me to give me a much needed valve replacement. Procedure was done through the groin area. I was in the hospital overnight, returned home the next day feeling like a new woman. Dr T was not only professional patient, kind, sweet & extremely talented in the field he has chosen. Pre surgery I was tired, weak & lethargic, now I'm loaded with energy and I am so thankful to him for his expertise. He has certainly given me a new lease on life and for that I am so grateful.

Dr. Henry Tannous was highly recommended by two trusted doctors. He operated on my lung cancer which grew and attached to my heart after chemo. His words to me on first meeting were "We are going to beat this together". He explained every thing very thoroughly and drew pictures for me to understand. He removed the two lower lobes of my right lung, lymph nodes, and shaved the cancer off my heart, another place would have closed me back up. He and his staff were there for me in every way.
