This content was provided by Dr. Degroot III "Henry DeGroot III, M.D., FAAOS, is an orthopedic surgeon and member of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 180 physicians in multiple specialties integrated within Baptist Health South Florida. Board certified in orthopedic surgery, he specializes in the non-surgical and surgical treatment of acute and chronic orthopedic conditions affecting the bones, joints and soft tissues. His practice encompasses general orthopedics, sports medicine and fractures. He has special training and experience in reconstructive and minimally invasive surgery of the knee, ankle and foot and surgical and minimally invasive treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors. Dr. DeGroot earned his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago Ill. He completed an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., where he served as chief resident. His postdoctoral training also included two orthopedic oncology fellowships—one at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital Children’s Hospital in Boston, Mass., and the other at Instituto Ortopedico Rizzoli in Bologna, Italy. Dr. DeGroot has authored many peer-reviewed articles, performed funded research in his specialty and presented his research findings at numerous medical symposiums. He serves on the orthopedic editorial board and scientific advisory board of multiple online medical resource sites, such as Medscape and Bonetumor.org. He is an experienced clinical educator, serving as associate professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Tufts University Medical School. Dr. DeGroot is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Fellow of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society."
