I was about six years old when I told my mother I wanted to be a doctor. The doctors I had exposure to at that time were not particularly kind or gentle, but for some reason I cared to do what they do, to take care of people. It's a privilege to take care of patients. It's a privilege to be allowed into their lives - into the most private parts of their lives - and to help them. I mean they confide in us. They trust us, and it really is a position of privilege. The greatest reward that I can reap here at Rush is to continue to take care of patients and their families and their family's families.Read more
