This content was provided by Dr. Alvarez "Since the inception of his Private Practice, Dr. Alvarez has become renowned for his exceptional individualized ophthalmic care. In addition to following the established Practice Patterns by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Alvarez's has a strong commitment to maintaining open channels of communication at all times by fully engaging patients, their family members, their internists or family physician, (today s PCP) and any other Specialist(s). These practices and philosophies result in a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to the patient's medical care, culminating in optimum Ophthalmological outcomes. At the core of his practice philosophy, Dr. Alvarez believes in donating his clinical and surgical professional services and expertise to communities in need; he received the Reach Out Miami Award in 1996 for his community outreach. Prior to surgery, Dr. Alvarez personally goes over the surgical consent with each patient; in addition, he fully discusses the aforementioned advantages of true topical anesthesia ensuring patient s preference is followed, i.e. local anesthesia vs. topical drops. Throughout performing the eye examination services, Dr. Alvarez diagnoses the patient, he discusses his findings with the patient and his/her family member(s) which the patient chooses to be present during the exam. If systemic changes are noted, Dr. Alvarez coordinates care with the patient s internist/PCP and other pertinent specialist(s) involved in the patient s care. After careful consideration, Dr. Alvarez executes a medical plan to be followed by patient in order to obtain the desired outcomes. If the visit is either a Consultation or Second Opinion, Dr. Alvarez dictates a report during the patient s visit and forwards it to the doctor or entity who requested the service(s). Our office staff prides itself in providing upmost patient care; the highest level of professionalism and courtesy are the main focus of our everyday encounter(s) with each and every one of our patients. Our patient s well-being and satisfaction are paramount. We have made the necessary changes in order to keep our patient s waiting time to a maximum of 15 minutes in our waiting room. Our appointment schedule accommodates same day emergencies and Dr. Alvarez will answer all Emergency calls 24-7."
