A strong partner in my cancer journey
Dr Illum has been an incredible partner in my throat cancer journey. He is thorough, he is a great listener, he has practical advice before, during, and after treatment. I count him as a key to my great health outcome to this point. I would highly recommend him. Dr Illum has the time to interact thoroughly, answer questions, and prepare you for what is ahead throughout treatment and navigating my new normal post treatment. I will only get to see him every six months now as all my markers show me to be clear. It is a big win, but I will miss Dr Illum and his nurse Sally.

Definitely Not a Randal Davis needs to work on communication skills. In the past blood work was gone over line by line not so with Illum. Needless to say not impressed one on one skills but will learn in time.

Very knowledgeable
I had been struggling with increasing inability to walk for 18 months before I was referred to Dr. Illum. With an additional blood test to confirm what the referring doctor had sent him, Dr. Illum set me up for a test to see if I could tolerate an iron infusion. ai had Iron infusion the next week. I can feel myself recovering. A lot of muscles had atrophied during the 18 months of declining use. Now, I can walk short distances without using a walker. I keep a walking cane close by. Hallelujah!!! I can walk again.

Experience with Dr. Illum as a Patient
Dr. Illum assumed responsibility for my care after Dr. James M. Turner’s retirement at the end of May. I found Dr. Illum to be very knowledgeable and well informed about my medical condition. We discussed the results of laboratory test that I had done the week before in comparison to previous historical results as indicators of the progress of my medical condition. He was very personable and talked in a clear and unhurried tone of voice. The time spent during the appointment was sufficient to cover what we needed to discuss. I would highly recommend Dr. Illum for someone evaluating oncologist/hematologist for their medical care.
