Khaja has a strong desire to improve the ocular health of her patients through surgical intervention and continued research in ophthalmology. She has extensive training in ocular diseases and surgeries. Her recent research includes, subluxed lens phacoemulsification and acute maculopathy. In addition, she conducted extensive performance analysis on various vitreoretinal instruments. As chief resident at the University of Cincinnati, she presented research on idiopathic retinal phlebitis, lupus retinopathy, and cancer-associated retinopathy at the program's grand round forum. As part of her early medical training, Dr. Khaja participated in a transitional program at the University of Texas, Houston. There, she trained in the basics of general medicine, pediatrics, and emergency surgeries in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Dr. Khaja also attended the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, earning honors in third year clerkship in surgery, ophthalmology, and obstetrics/gynecology. At the Mayo Clinic, she presented clinical research on trabectome ablation arc and the incidence and clinical characteristics of epiretinal membranes in children. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas, Austin with a Summa Cum Laude in Human Biology with a focus on Pathogenesis and Immunity, and a minor in Business.
