Dr. Simosa's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Simosa "Born in Venezuela, Dr. Hector F. Simosa originally thought that he would go to college and become an engineer. "Fortunately, when I was younger I had the chance to witness some really remarkable things in medicine," he explains. "So I decided to make a switch and pursue a medical education, and once in medical school I knew I had made the right choice for my career." As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Simosa covers the full spectrum of vascular care, treating aortic aneurysms, carotid disease, deep vein thrombosis and venous disorders, renal mesenteric vascular disease, peripheral artery disease as well as managing lower extremity circulation issues and wounds in diabetic patients. He performs minimally invasive catheter procedures and open surgical reconstruction for patients. "The great thing about vascular surgery is that you can really make a difference. Patients come in with a serious issue, a real risk to their life or livelihood in many cases, and you can change the outcome with your care." An important aspect of vascular surgery that Dr. Simosa really enjoys is the ability to build relationships with patients over time. "I really enjoy interacting with people and seeing them over the years. We follow patients for a long time, and those long-term relationships make vascular surgery very special for me. We really get to know our patients." According to Dr. Simosa, vascular disease requires doctors to be constantly involved. "Physicians know that vascular disease is a complex process that unfortunately can't be cured. It's always lurking inside somewhere, so we keep vigilant and educate patients to prevent reoccurrences." Dr. Simosa's philosophy is to always do right for the patient. "In vascular surgery there are many different options for each patient. In many cases, I can treat the same problem in a number of ways. However, which one is going to serve the patient in the best possible way, with the best outcome, durability and minimal risks? That's something that always has to be considered very carefully and thoroughly reviewed with the patient." In his off hours Dr. Simosa enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife and two boys. They enjoy traveling and different activities including soccer and tennis."
