Dr. Ismail then spent two years at the University of California Irvine Medical Center honing her skills as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Ismail's main areas of interest in pulmonary medicine are Pulmonary Hypertension and Interventional Pulmonology. Her research is focused on identification of the underlying mechanism for development of pulmonary hypertension in Meth-amphetamine abuse, and right ventricular dysfunction and remodeling in patients with severe pulmonary hypertension. Currently at Pacific Pulmonary Medical Group, Dr. Ismail is fortunate to have joined a team of pulmonary and critical care physicians, where she is able to incorporate her training in pulmonary and critical care medicine together with her procedural skills in interventional pulmonology in a collaborative team based approach. Her practice specializes in the care of patients with advanced lung disease. Beside her passion for lung cancer patients, Dr. Ismail specializes in the treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension. She has taken the initiative to establish an accredited program providing expertise in pulmonary hypertension that aspires to improve overall quality of care and ultimately improve outcomes of patients with pulmonary hypertension, particularly pulmonary arterial hypertension, a rare and life-threatening group of diseases. Dr. Ismail is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California Riverside, teaching and mentoring residents rotating at Riverside Community Hospital and at PPMG's outpatient clinic. She is also the Director of the Lung Cancer program and Chair of the Thoracic Tumor Board at Riverside Community Hospital where she is spearheading efforts as part of the advisory board in laying the foundation for a Lung Cancer program which will focus on combining quality and safety with the most advanced, minimally invasive bronchoscopy techniques.
