This content was provided by Dr. Scarpero "In 2001, Dr. Scarpero was the first woman to complete urological surgical training from The Department of Urology at LSU School of Medicine and Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana. In the six years of her training there was tremendous growth in the field of female urology, and she became aware of the need for urologists to specialize in the field. Following residency, she was accepted into the prestigious Female Urology fellowship at New York University where she honed her surgical skills in complex incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse cases. Dr. Scarpero's career has included ten years in academic medicine at Vanderbilt University and private practice. In 2017 she co-founded Female Urology of Nashville, the first female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS) practice under the directorship of urologists and women in Nashville. Dr. Scarpero is very active in national FPMRS organizations and is a Past President of the Society of Women in Urology. She is an invited speaker and has published extensively on the topics of Urinary Incontinence, Overactive Bladder, and Urodynamics. "
